When to use it

Use it when you want to improve a specific behaviour and the past is contested or emotionally charged.

How to apply it
  1. Pick one behaviour you want to improve, such as running shorter meetings.
  2. Describe that goal briefly to a colleague.
  3. Ask for two suggestions that could help you in future.
  4. Listen and take notes without commenting or judging the ideas.
  5. Thank them, then repeat with several other people.
  6. Choose the suggestions you will try and tell people what you picked.
Tip: Thank people only; any rebuttal, even a polite one, stops the suggestions coming.
