When to use it

Use it to decide where to invest networking time for the most distinctive value.

How to apply it
  1. Map the main groups you interact with, such as teams, functions and communities.
  2. Spot pairs of groups that rarely talk to each other.
  3. Build at least one solid relationship in each group.
  4. Pass useful information or introductions between them.
  5. Review whether your network is becoming too concentrated in one group.
Tip: Brokering works best when both sides trust you, so make sure you add value in each direction.
