When to use it

Use it to be realistic about how many relationships you can actively maintain and to prioritise.

How to apply it
  1. Accept that you cannot keep up with everyone equally.
  2. Identify your innermost layer of about five people.
  3. Identify the next layer of roughly 15 people you rely on often.
  4. Plan regular contact for these inner layers.
  5. Use light-touch contact, such as occasional messages, for the outer layers.
Tip: The number is an approximate average with real variation between people, not a hard limit.
