When to use it

Use it for coaching conversations where you want the other person to find their own solution.

How to apply it
  1. Goal: ask what they want to achieve from the conversation and beyond.
  2. Reality: ask what is happening now and what they have already tried.
  3. Options: ask what they could do, pushing for several possibilities.
  4. Will: ask which option they will act on and when.
  5. Check their commitment on a scale of one to ten and adjust if it is low.
Tip: Resist offering your own answer in the Options stage; ask 'what else?' at least once more.
