When to use it

Use it when a goal is vague and you need to make it clear enough to act on and review.

How to apply it
  1. Write the goal in one sentence.
  2. Make it specific about what will change.
  3. Add a measure that shows when it is achieved.
  4. Name the person responsible for delivering it.
  5. Check it is realistic given resources and constraints.
  6. Set a deadline or review date.
Tip: SMART makes goals clear but not necessarily important; check the goal is worth doing first.
