When to use it

Use it when a team keeps setting strategic goals but daily operational work crowds them out.

How to apply it
  1. Choose one or two wildly important goals, framed as from X to Y by a set date.
  2. Identify lead measures that are predictive of the goal and within the team's control.
  3. Create a simple, visible scoreboard showing lead and lag measures.
  4. Hold a short weekly meeting where each person commits to one action that moves a lead measure.
  5. Review last week's commitments at the start of each meeting.
Tip: Teams often pick lag measures by mistake; a lead measure should be something you can change this week.
