When to use it

Use it when a team or organisation needs a balanced set of measures that link strategy to day-to-day work.

How to apply it
  1. State the strategy or overall goal the scorecard should support.
  2. Set objectives under each of the four perspectives.
  3. Choose one or two measures and a target for each objective.
  4. Identify the initiatives that will move each measure.
  5. Review the scorecard regularly and adjust initiatives that are not working.
Tip: Too many measures dilute focus; keep the scorecard short enough to discuss in one meeting.
