When to use it

Use it when work keeps getting started but not finished, or priorities are unclear to the team.

How to apply it
  1. Map the stages your work moves through, such as To Do, Doing and Done.
  2. Put every current task on the board as a card.
  3. Set a limit on how many cards can sit in each in-progress column.
  4. Pull new work only when capacity frees up.
  5. Review the board regularly to spot bottlenecks and improve the flow.
Tip: The work-in-progress limit is the part most teams skip, and it is what delivers the benefit.
