An opening structure of Situation, Complication, Question and Answer that frames why your message matters before you deliver it.
When to use it
Use it to open a proposal, presentation or email that needs to establish context quickly.
How to apply it
- Describe the Situation the reader already knows and accepts.
- State the Complication that has changed or created a problem.
- Pose the Question that the complication raises.
- Give your Answer clearly, then follow with supporting detail.
Tip: Keep the Situation short; it should be familiar to the reader, not new information.
